I have seen a dramatic improvement in the quality of my scalp and a reduction in flakiness using the 5 steps below. I will continue to update this hair routine with ongoing experimentation.

STEP 1 - FIX YOUR DIET

  • Eliminate inflammatory foods

  • Reduce consumption of carbohydrates

  • Increase consumption of anti-inflammatory foods

  • Increase Vit A (not if pregnant) and omega-3 consumption

STEP 2 - FIX YOUR GUT MICROBIOME

  • Consume kefir (homemade if possible)

  • Reduce consumption of carbohydrates

  • Increase consumption of fermented foods

  • Increase consumption of fibre and cruciferous vegetables

  • Exercise regularly

STEP 3 - TOPICAL TEA TREE CLEANSE

  • Use homemade shampoo consisting of:

    • Chamomile and peppermint tea

    • Natural organic fragrance-free liquid castile soap

    • Tea tree oil

    • Dried thyme

  • Wash

STEP 4 - TOPICAL PROBIOTIC TREATMENT (TWICE A WEEK)

  • Apply kefir to scalp and skin, leave for 10min

  • Wash

STEP 5 - CONDITION

  • Use homemade conditioner consisting of:

    • Chamomile and peppermint tea

    • Natural organic fragrance-free liquid castile soap

    • Coconut oil

    • Honey

    • Aloe vera

    • Tea tree oil

    • Dried thyme

  • Wash

If you are interested in trying this then please be aware that what works for me may not work for you. Some people may also find some of the ingredients I have used are irritants and may interact with hair dyes too.
